This was so well written, engaging and very moving. It brought to mind a quote;

"I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots." Albert Einstein

Absolutely fascinating and how very true reality in a world in the blinking of eyes . Down the rabbit hole were falling into. Leaving behind our most precious gifts of life. Love feeling compassion touch speech freedom our human brain replaced by a control system and who is to blame only ourselves.

This post truly struck a cord with me. This is from a fellow artist who is actively avoiding AI, where I can. I even moved my website because it was boasting it's new, 'AI powered' partner! I'm frankly a little scared about what's ahead, as we are being actively encouraged to use AI for even the simplest thing, like a social media post, or even a text. How is the future generation ever going to understand the joy of imagination, let alone embrace it. It's heartbreaking. There is so much beauty in imperfection... the odd grammatical error... the odd punctuation mishap. It's what makes us human. I hate that these days if I read a newsletter or a blog post, or even a book, how do I know if a person actually wrote it? I'm going to leave this comment, errors and all, so you know that it was written by a fellow human being. I LOVED your article!

Thanks, Sandra. I resonate with this. I believe AI is not only being encouraged but also pushed. I recently had an AI assistant added as a bonus to my Fiverr account. It starts conversations with clients for me. I don’t like it, they don’t like it, but I can’t turn it off now. I keep bugging Fiverr to turn it off. Will see what happens.

It’s being forced upon us because the investments in it are gargantuan, and it’s not providing these companies an ROI. Currently they spend $29 billion to make $1 billion. To try to make money off this tech, they’re going to force it into everything and raise prices. That’s why Microsoft is forcing AI open office 365 users. If it was as great as the hype, people would line up to pay for it willingly.

I didn’t know that. But it certainly feels like it. My clients don’t like it, I don’t either, but there’s no way to turn it off.

Oh, that's not good. The problem with AI, is that it also 'saves us time' by doing the thinking for us. But the more we let 'it' speak on our behalf, the more 'we' get done... and because of that, the busier we become, which in turn means that we will rely on it more and more. As an artist myself, I feel it's so important to speak in my own words. If I polished everything to perfection, or changed the wording of everything I wrote, what happens if I meet a collector, or a gallery owner? They would feel like they had met a completely different person... which is exactly what they would be doing.

Interesting point. By using it more we have less time because we become busier. Very true. And yes, even when I use AI to find words and idioms in English (my second language), I make sure I don't copy-paste mindlessly but see how it fits with my voice. Often don't like what AI suggests.

Your English is very good. I would never have guessed it was your second language.

Love this story. a Juxtaposition for where we are today and where our current trajectory with AI might lead. Got to admit, I am guilty of resorting to AI for a quick fix on my writing at times.

Thanks, Shirley! Yes, I get it. Everyone has to draw their own line. At this point, I use it as an advanced version of Google - to research ideas and look up words and idioms in English (my second language).
