Very true. I love the painting process and not all the rest (producing for a show, marketing, selling). Think I'll focus more on enjoying the creative process. Thanks.
Thanks for reading Doreen. I was just thinking the exact same thing today. Got home from a trip and I was thinking I should focus more on the fun stuff from now on.
so timely for me: @75yrs taking up serious painting to record the beauty of this fragile planet & all life on it when you yourself are also fragile (physical disability & brain damage due to systemic lupus) is a monumental ask. My new GP looked up from my file & observed "you have arthritis everywhere!" Self sabotage of exactly the kind you describe is all too real. Recently fell over a pile of books engaging in hell for leather activity (5 trips to wound clinic!) I am making the effort to stop & smell the roses (literally in my rose arbour as it is spring here) and see the funny side of it all. The nurses & I had a real chuckle over the fact that a sheep I graze gains my attention by undoing my shoelaces & trackpants ties. They agreed that were I to claim a broken bone because "sheep undid my shoelaces" I would be subject to psychiatric evaluation despite the fact that this might actually happen to me, especially as steroids make bones & skin very fragile. Thx for your much needed reminder
Colleen, thank you for your comment! Reading your words, I am so happy you have an art world you escape into. We create no matter what, and that makes us the lucky ones, I believe!
These are wise words and something I have been thinking about these days. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks so much for your kind words Amy!
Thank you, Debra. I needed to hear this today.
