I believe it must be visible to all; however, not sure. I think I need Artwork Archive for the inventory control, etc. I have an Adobe Portfolio site but it's poor for the business side.
I can't answer the provenance part, but yes. I track show entries, exhibits, and sales; I can make many different kinds of reports, create gallery tags, tear sheets, etc.
I am in the process of moving my art website to FASO but still have a couple websites with godaddy. So far I am certainly happier with the support at FASO.
ARTWORK archive is my business site, and FASO is the showcase site.

One has email/newsletter capability, as well as a more polished interface, and the other has more robust business side functionality.

By business side functionality you mean like inventory tracking, robust provenances, studio management, that kind of thing?
FASO is the perfect place for me to host my site.
