I am pleased that you mentioned "mastery" in art. My pet peeve is to see the poorly skilled, amateur work that so many "artists" post on public media, including the Daily Art Show, w/o having had any training, and worse, who charge exhorbitant prices. I am old-fashioned, I believe in schooling as well as hundreds of hours of practice before anyone can call themselves an artist.

There is so much truth in this. As an example, it took me five years of daily 2 hr practice sessions to shoot a longbow consistently well. Everything we want to master is this way. It is how ours minds develop and express the huge amount of information it takes to be masterful. Thank you Clint.

Holding a forked stick and stumbling in creative circles upon the kiln land of arizona searching for relief,I found your articles and Clinsights peeking up at me through the surface of the sand. Weakly I slumped where I found you and instinctively began digging ,for what ,I wasn’t sure .

Then up bubbled your words ,cool and different;

“Shortcuts “ and “good skill” .

there they are ,the grounded treasures that flow

Into art . I am quenched . Thank you
